Isn't this just a Digital Fletcher-Munson loudness knob?
Absolutely not! The only thing in connection with it is the use of A-weighting curve applied to the power spectrum to figure out how much gain to add to your filter response to maintain a consistent perceived loudness between EQ'd and un EQ'd response. This is something you cannot accurately do irrespective of how blessed you are as a Mastering Engineer.
