Re: Sound is different - for the worse

We placed an auto matching feature in Har-Bal at the request of our customers. And we thank you for it! :) I know what Andy did was the kind of thing you guys were afraid would happen, but please know that there are plenty of us who find this time-saving feature incredibly useful, and we use it for...

Ah, okay. That's what I was missing. I kept trying different zoom techniques to no avail. Thanks, Paavo.

Zoom all in 2.2

Hi guys, I recently got vs. 2.2, and it appears that Zoom All doesn't work like it did in previous versions. In previous versions, it zoomed out so that I could see every bit of the graph lines, but in 2.2, there're often portions of the lines that are still below the bottom of the graph and hence n...

Do you mean 2.2? If so it is already released and available. Has been so for around a month. Contact har-bal support for instructions on how to get it. Thanks, Paavo. Will do. I'm confused, though. I sent an email to support in July to make sure you had my current email for the new release, and Ear...

Thanks Paavo.

Any E.T.A. on the final version of 2.0?

Feature Request: Remember last used directory

Hi Paavo, I have a feature request. Could you please make the "Record to output wave file" dialog remember the last directory used? More than once, I have edited a batch of files from one directory and saved them to another only to inadvertantly record over some files in the original direc...

Welcome to the wonderful world of tech support. Paavo, maybe a sticky entitled something like "Why you can't turn off the limiter" would help minimize these kind of questions.

The only negative I hear (and this would really be nit picking) is the mastering brought out some of the nasty tones in the solo a bit more than the unmastered version Ditto. Your remix is clearly superior, IMO, but the git solo is too strident. Funny thing... I've heard this track before. Many mon...

Reminds me of a duo from the mid 80s called 'David & David'. [snip] Of course, no one but me remembers them. I remember them! Sort of a modern rock/folk sound, right? "Swallowed By The Cracks" and "Welcome To The Boomtown" are the only familiar tracks. Were those hits? If no...

how can a $1,000 software application (Samplitude) sound better than PT? Careful, zumbido... some people would make the same argument against Har-Bal! Seriously, price is by no means a reliable benchmark of quality. Don't you think there is a REAL reason why pros invest $25,000 to $100,000 and more...

If I may add my two cents, I'd prefer not to have any "automated" matching. Better results can be achieved by using the eyes to create a "loose" match with the reference file and then using the (all improtant) ears to fine tune the final touches. I am still baffled by resistance...

All I know is that I was taking Ibuprofen for eyestrain headaches (before I got reading glasses) and ended up in a situation where I had to take 1 pill every eight hours or else I'd end up with a horrendous migraine headache, but even though I was on the drug I still had low level pain and it seeme...

Thanks, Paavo. Just wanted to know whether you guys were listening, so thanks for responding. What exactly does "much little to do with Har-Bal" mean? :?

Hope your plate is filled with interesting stuff.

Maybe they could make it a hidden, undocumented feature. Mike Hi Mike, Well, that'd be better than nothing, but I still don't see why it shouldn't be as exposed as any other feature. Spend 15 minutes randomly web surfing, and you'll surely find a number of sites that misuse javascript or Flash, but...

Not sure how to interpret the absence of a response from Earle or Paavo here. I'll mention another case where spectrum matching would be very helpful. I recently purchased a sample library. One of the sounds I'm focusing on for a couple of tunes is a cello. I used to use a Soundfont version of a cel...
