where should crossover be set?
After years of hearing about the wonders of using a woofer I now have one. I use M-audio BX5 nearfield monitors and the woofer is the matching M_Audio Studiophile woofer. The audio is routed to the woofer where frequencies can be set for the crossover output to the BX5 monitors. Question: To set thi...

RMS levels with Sound Forge Meter
The discussions mention an RMS level of -12 as a pretty good level. In Sound Forge, the RMS meters seem to indicate that I am getting a reading of + 10 or so. There is a 0 on the meter and everything above that is shown as "in the red" However, the regular peak VU meter is showing no clips...

shortcut and/or command keys
I just discovered a "trick" using the keyboard by reading one of the posts.
Is there a list of keyboard functions? Example: Left click hold and press 0

filter
I created a couple of filters that seemed to be typical of the eq I want on songs. They are saved as .mfl files. As I read the instructions, when I load the .mfl filter file it will alter the sound spectrum for the songs I have loaded into Har-bal and then I can make additional changes as I wish. As...

Using filter
When I add the filter to a song there is no change to the screen/display and the origional trace does not show. Turning the EQ on and off produces no change in the sound - I'm not sure the filter is actually doing anything at all. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Bax

I like the idea
Now all I have to do is figure how to set up a link to a sound file. I guess I need to create a web page and put the file there?

Maybe a limiter for Har-bal?
Hi Paavo, I think this is where a limiter that worked inside of the program would be helpful. The clipping is pretty consistant if you consider a clip for one or two samples a problem - I'm not sure if "real people" can hear such short clips. I can't but I also know I have hearing loss. I'...

why am I getting clipping?
When I make the adjustments to correct the eq I have started to get clipping in the recorded file. I would not expect this as I am seeing no indication of saturation in Har-bal. If I have this happen to a file - should I just start over and this time drop the output gain slidder by a couple of db? S...

DirectX?
I use Sound Forge and Nero and would love to access Har-bal without exiting the other program.

It work great
I'm not sure what forum edicate says about extra posts just to say thanks, but thanks! Not only does Har-bal help me solve problems, I'm starting to underst and more about what caused them. Another wonderful suggestion was to go back and rerecord some of the old tapes using some good EQ before I bro...

Nodes on green line
I haven't checked to see if you have all ready done this, but an idea might be to have these nodes corrispond to the "signigficant frequances" that you mention in your tips.

Global Undo or Return to origional EQ
Sometimes I find that I have simply "messed with" the file more than needed, and I would like to return to the origional Eq as it was when I first loaded the song. Instead of stepping back with Undo or reloading the file, could we just return to the files origional EQ as loaded with one cl...
