It was a simple enough solution. I needed to run the program as Administrator. That way the registry keys are stored.
Running the program as a non-administrator it would not store the registry keys.

Harbal 2.3
Hello Paavo, I have not been on here for a long time. I use Har-Bal when I want to do an overall frequency trace of an entire track. I just realized that I have an issue after upgrading my system to Windows 10. Every time I start Har-Bal 2.3 it requires me to re-enter my authorization key. It says t...

eq boost and cuts
Paavo, From what I understand, Har-bal attempts to keep the RMS value the same even when making eq boosts or cuts. This must mean that processing is applied to all other frequencies to makeup or cut overall gain. I think this makes sense when mastering a stereo track. However, if Har-Bal is also use...

Re: Har Bal reveals DAW sound differences
Mike, I understood how the source was generated. I was suggesting using a rendered file for comparison purposes to keep things as controlled as possible for your experiment. Coincidently I have been a long time user of Samplitude. I would also add that it could be differences in their mix engine. Ce...

Re: The "Evils" of Auto EQ
Hello Jetflow1, Thanks for the info on the graphic eq. I was quite unaware of that one. Interestingly, there is a Q-factor on each slider and that makes it much more versatile than an outboard eq for sure! I have used ARC and I must say that it helps clear things up in the room. I am moving my setup...

Re: Har Bal reveals DAW sound differences
I agree that Har-Bal is useful for telling the differences between two recordings! But I am a bit surprised at your findings. Any professional DAW should give you identical results if recording the same source. This can be confirmed by recording the digital input and comparing the result to an origi...

Re: 24 bit versus 32 bit
Hello Hans, We should make a distinction here. There are different storage formats for PCM data... 24-bit (fixed format integer) 32-bit (fixed format integer) 32-bit (float) Most DAW software works in either 24-bit fixed point or 32-bit float format. Both are relatively equivalent. Float uses a 24-b...

Re: VU Meter
I have been using this meter. http://www.sonoris.nl/catalog/meter-p-34.html?osCsid=88151fd1324aa599bf753a7a44b41dba It was written by someone doing mastering. It's a VST plugin. It's has pink noise built into the meter and supports the K-system. Pink noise can be toggled left speaker, right speaker ...

Re: Help - Intel MacBook Pro, tiger 10.4.11, Paralleles, Window,
I may be in over my head on this one, but here is a suggestion... I would try the Digidesign ASIO driver here if you want to make it work with Windows XP. http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?langid=100&navid=54&itemid=23087 It says that it is a single client driver... The ASIO Driver is not ...

Check Options->Driver from the menu and see if your sound device is selected there.

Re: Use Har-Bal to tune your playback equalization
The hardware version of Audyssey allows you to interface with a PC and get graphical views of the measure room impulse and frequency responses before and after correction. I don't know if the ARC product gives you that option. The ARC plug shows you the uncorrected and corrected frequency response,...

Re: Use Har-Bal to tune your playback equalization
I do have an RME Multiface, and it comes with DigiCheck which has an excellent RTA. I could use that. Half of the back wall of this room is open, so my thinking was that the open space would provide an outlet. As well, mastering rooms that I have seen use an elongated room with the speakers a good d...

Re: Use Har-Bal to tune your playback equalization
Evan and Paavo, Thanks again for your advice and help. Distance from the speakers to the back wall is 16-17ft. Also the width of the room is 18ft at the end of the room where the speakers are and 14ft at the back of the room. A calculator application (www.mhsoft.nl) shows the wavelength of 137Hz to ...

Re: Use Har-Bal to tune your playback equalization
The ARC system is really good at tuning up your playback. I was blown away. The sound is so much smoother. This thread is not so much about Har-Bal anymore, but the ARC system. ---Sorry about that. I will still use Har-Bal to do acoustic measurements. :-) I pulled my speakers away from the wall. Thi...

Very good point about the resolution. It sounds like I need to give this plugin a try.
Thanks again.
