Re: Har Bal reveals DAW sound differences
Hey Gordon, My main focus was to eliminate this sound in my mixes that was driving me crazy. At first I thought it may have been the room, so that is where the idea of arc came. But to lay out that much money on a hunch did not make sense so I got the DBX unit and ran it. Instead of using the first ...

Re: The "Evils" of Auto EQ
You are welcome. The AAY is a really great graphic EQ I stumbled upon. For $29.00 you cannot beat it. Well I am not using the DBX settings anymore nor am I going to be getting ARC for the time being as well. I found the main problem was the way my VSTs sounded. I had thought perhaps it was my room o...

Re: Har Bal reveals DAW sound differences
Hey Guys, First thing I want to clear up is how the test was done. I did not used a sound file I used a midi drum track firing Kontact 4 the drum samples I used was Abbey Roads 70's Drum Kit. The drums themselves were mixed within Kontact and saved as a preset so each and every DAW receieved the exa...

Har Bal reveals DAW sound differences
After changing speakers, applying room treatments, trying dozens of audio I/Os and various other things, I found I was still unhappy with the mixes coming from my DAW. I decided to try one more thing; a test to see if each DAW software had a unique tone. I D/led the demo of Presonus Studio One, Magi...

Re: The "Evils" of Auto EQ
Sorry for taking so long between replies. Music is now a serious hobby to me (I used to be semi-pro before CTS) and I have to fit it in when I can. :) Thanks, I try to think in a level-headed manner in all aspects of life, not just speakers..he he he. I sort of chuckle when I hear people dropping na...

Re: The "Evils" of Auto EQ
Yes I put the same setting from the DriveRack into the 31 band EQ VST. The VST is a dual channel version so I was able to use independent setting (like the DriveRack does) for left and right. Thanks for the tips on the settings. I do have one set of speakers that does have boosting below 300 hz and ...

The "Evils" of Auto EQ
Hi Paavo; When you mention the pink noise analyzer I decided to give this Auto EQing a go. I know from searching for info on this topic, that there is a lot of controversy but being the person I am, I make my own judgments on things....that is why I now own Har-Bal. :) I was going to use the free Ro...

Re: Paavo---Yamaha MSP20 Monitors. The worst in the world?
Hi Paavo:
Thank you for your informative reply. After reading your post, I decided to give something a try that I was considering for a while; Auto Eqing. Because this is now off topic, I am starting a new thread on this.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Paavo---Yamaha MSP20 Monitors. The worst in the world?
HI Paavo:
In this post you mentioned that you can do room correction with an impulse mic and Har-Bal, but I did not read anywhere on how to do this.
Could you please explain how?
Thanks,
Mike M
BTW, Har-Bal is amazing..Great job guys.
