Re: Use HarBal's EQ Matching as VST (or export values to EQ

Okay; in that case, what's needed is a superimposed graph of before/after so I can at least clearly see the approximate difference. I'm fine with approximations, but now it's hard to even get those. I either see the Before, the After, but not both in stable stationary format (perhaps some kind of av...

Re: Use HarBal's EQ Matching as VST (or export values to EQ

This is very upsetting to hear. As the programmer, you have access to the exact array of values (deltas) that you're applying when the user clicks "Match EQ". Is it so difficult to expose or at least export this array to a text file? I just need a report of the deltas that the program is a...

Re: Use HarBal's EQ Matching as VST (or export values to EQ

In other words, here's a built-in EQ VST tool in FL Studio (there are many others)... How can I perform the mapping, precisely according the output of Har-Bal, to achieve its EQing results? Is there some kind of data table that can tell me exact values of the curve? My goal is not to go through the ...

Use HarBal's EQ Matching as VST (or export values to EQ VST)

Happy new year. My question is, can I use Har-Bal as an integrated VST inside my DAW (FL Studio)? It's a bit of a pain to run the standalone and import/export. I just need to capture the graph adjustments that it does on every track, with my usual reference (I only use one reference for everything)....

Re: New Har-Bal User: Can't Get Good RMS Levels!

So as I understand from this quote from 2012, Percussive instruments are quite often poorly compressed in the tracking stage resulting in the introduction of strong short duration transients (when the attack time of the compressor is too long or there is not enough look ahead). the drums/kicks need ...

Re: New Har-Bal User: Can't Get Good RMS Levels!

As you probably know any type of dynamic compression will compromise the loudness of a song even if the RMS level states it is louder. You can actually have a song at -13db sound louder than a song at -10db.The more compression you apply the softer your song will sound even if you make up the gain....

After matching volume, certain parts "crushed"/lowered

This is probably a common problem, but I'm looking for any suggestions or tips. After matching both the EQ and Volume to my Reference track, there are certain parts in my mix that get "crushed" and then immediately "released" when there are fewer elements playing. For example, th...

Record Only the EQ Changes (without Volume)

I loaded my source and reference (HBREF). Now, I need to export only the EQ changes applied to the source (as a new .WAV), without the Dynamics/Volume. Does the Record command look at which buttons are currently selected? Or does it always export the full range of changes applied (EQ, Dynamics, etc....

Re: Menus vs. Buttons to See Changes

Thanks. So I guess I'll have to manually select the menus to apply filter changes. Could you address the other question about volume? Part of the reason I bought Har-Bal was to achieve commercial volume matching (without distortion). As I wrote, I'm 90% there and HarBal does a good job, but still a ...

Re: Menus vs. Buttons to See Changes

I'm still not entirely clear: I need to match my source track to a reference track (in all respects: EQ, volume, etc.) 1) First of all I processed the Reference track and exported its .HBREF file (does it have to be .HBREF or .HBF?) 2) I loaded my own track, and then clicked Reference -> Open... 3) ...

Volume Matched, but still lower than reference

I forced a "Match Volume" on my source track to the reference track. The volume is much louder now, but still just a little quieter than the reference. I wouldn't say it's dramatically different, but still around 1.5-2 units quieter, somewhat audible. Does Har-Bal stop its volume matching ...

Menus vs. Buttons to See Changes

I'm new to Har-Bal and only beginning to use it. My goal is to see how my EQ graph differs from my reference track and hear the difference. This is what I noticed: 1) The menu items "Apply"/"Match" under the Equalizer menu change the graph to show me Source Graph/Reference Graph,...
