Re: Aphex 204

I can't find anything called "digioid zo2", do you have a link? An EQ and an exciter is apples & oranges. You can't compare them because they would be used for different things. That being said... EQs can fix problems. Exciters aren't designed for fixing problems. For doing things besi...

Re: Aphex 204

There actually is/was a plugin for the Aural Exciter and Big Bottom with quite a few more controls than the 204, more towards the controls of the 250. But it wasn't a VST or anything, it was for some antiquated "daw" software I can't remember the name of anymore. At any rate, between the B...

Ideal Curves v2.0

The Ideal Curve is back. This time with different versions, and it warrants a full topic for itself. I don't think many people had found it in the 2 topics it was posted in before. What are the Ideal Curves? Well... what I did was take an hour of maximum intensity white noise, loaded it into Har-Bal...

Re: Achieving A Consistent Sound

I guess my answer is do whatever works best for you, whatever you get the best output with. Personally I only use 1/12th now. I prefer the most accuracy, in any way I can get it.

Re: Match Loudness

Honestly the Har-Bal limiter isn't that great. Also, matching loudness to some other arbitrary track only based on the arbitrary gain, and trying to have the limiter keep up... is NOT a good practice. Much of perceptive loudness does not come from limiting OR average levels to an extent. For instanc...

Re: Running Har-Bal on Vista

For future compiles, you can force DEP to be off as of VS2008. ;) You can also easily get UAC to auto-grab administrative rights through merging a simple manifest, if you ever need to have that and don't want to deal with UAC SDK. PM me if you want it and I'll send you the manifest.

Lipinski Sound

Also have to introduce these guys... a family company from Poland... http://www.lipinskisound.com/ http://www.lipinskisound.com/History.aspx The "listening evaluation of phonographic recordings" by the way... was when Sony & Philips were testing the copy protection for the DAT standard...

I think that for now I'll just leave it as is. It's such a good tool, especially once you get used to looking at it, and shaping stuff around it... that to have different versions of it might not be ideal in some ways. I don't think anyone should be using it completely automatically (or har-bal v2 i...

It's just you. The post was over here in this thread; http://har-bal.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?p=4782&highlight=#4782 But yeah, I suppose I'll have to create a new thread just for it, like I said I would. I also have a higher resolution reference file, lil more accurate, made from 2 ho...

i would listen but your myspace page has been deleted or whatever... anywho, check out a free demo of Voxengo Elephant, and use these settings: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8388/defaultelephantwj1.gif i have yet to hear a limiter that's as loud while also preserving the transients so well - wi...

i know it's just opinion in some ways, but technically there's no reason that drums can't be stereo, it's just a matter of the balance of L+R and L-R... the phase between the two, the impulse & frequency response of the recording gear & medium.. a lot of things can effect that. if you want t...

I'm not personally bashing anything here... but it's not an unfair generalization to say that the majority of professional mastering engineers consider Ozone and T-Racks to be "pro-sumer" - to put it as nicely as possible. I'm sure much more harsh ways of putting it have been made by indiv...

I posted about a new broadband brickwall limiter I found that I really like on another thread, but i'll quote it here: I found another great broadband brickwall limiter. It's not as transparent as Voxengo Elephant, especially on the treble transients, but for some things it just sounds better, espec...
