Re: Ideal Curves v2.0
Thanks Unca Jesse!! I have been using the Ideal Curve from the first one You Made.I pretty much use the Flat one but the others are interesting for experimentation. I also Have to agree with Paavo in his method, Mainly because he built the program then he should know how better to use it LOL!!. No j...

Re: VU Meter
What your saying here is absolutely true PAAVO. I was mainly referring to line levels through your A/D and D/A and the way I do this is with a sine of 1khz at say -16dbfs amplitude and read the output with a true RMS volt meter and gain staging through my mixer controller with lets say from 1.238v f...

Re: VU Meter
I read once where someone said,"The best upgrade you can do for your equipment is to get your levels correct". I have found this to be true in every aspect. Have you found yourself listening to music and are constantly increasing volume or having to lower the volume, decrease the output of...

What Clock Source?
I have read quite a bit about what clock source to use when recording. The answer I get is always use the internal source of your sound card, which makes sense especially when the AD Converter is built in to the card. My question here is if I'm using an outboard A/D Converter, should I use its own cl...

Re: 96KHZ at 44.1khz
Hi Paavo, I understand your point, and normally when I did SRC it would be 88.2 instead of 96k. But is the math the same when you go through a device upsample but actually record at 44.1. The file is being played at 44.1 but passing through the A/D converter it takes a step up to 96khz and I'm captur...

96KHZ at 44.1khz
I know this topic is somewhat confusing but I will explain what I mean. I'm finding it beneficial to record at 44.1khz with your A/D converter outputting 96khz. It took me some experimenting to get this setup with all my outboard gear, and the good part is I'm not creating any cumbersome files loadin...

Re: How do you get "punch"?
I agree wholeheartedly with Paavo on this. Although I usually roll off around 50hz unless I want to mabe increase the kick,or tom especially in high energy rock music. Now Rap,and Hiphop do usually use lower frequencies, but its not something you can hear readily without a sub woofer and then your o...

VU Meter
I'm sure a lot of folks know about the free VU Meter at http://www.vuplayer.com . Anyway It was very useful coupled with a 1khz sine to accurately get my A/D Converter level up to snuff. I figured I would share this with those who didn't know about it. This one covers from 0 to -30 db and you can se...

"Harbal", so easy a Deaf Man could do it.
At first I have to admit that Harbal was a little intimidating, especially with all the latest features that have been added. But you know after hours and hours of looking at wave forms and listening time and time again....well you know. Then it became apparent that I truly trusted what this program ...

Mastering mp3's... is it possible?
I know there is a lot of contraversy over this subject, and by all rights the statements made to the negative side of it are valid ones for sure. But lets say someone sends an mp3 at a higher quality say.. 320kb or higher. Ok instead of decoding this to .wav, lets just bring it into a good quality m...

Here's the anl file I used: (right-click, save-as) http://ictybtihky.com/harbal/anlfiles/ideal_curve_1.anl After trying it on about 20 tracks now, it doesn't seem to always get close to greatness with 1 click of the intuitMatch, or just one selective swipe of the intuitMatch cursor... but i've foun...

I have been away from this forum for quite awhile, and have missed a couple of upgrades, and a lot of great info from all the members here. My e-mail had changed,so the missed upgrades. Re: After mastering i got a but graph .why?
