Yeah I set it to 2 because when I set it higher it was sounding weird but 2 did the trick a whole lot better. What's the best way you recommend setting the Attack and Release settings? Or do you just kind mess around with them until you get the sound you're looking for? There seems to be an Auto-Rel...

Ah cool! Just 2 more questions and I promise I'll leave ya alone, lol. So what's the difference between a multiband compresser and a wide band compresser? I've never heard of a wideband compressor before and what benefits does one get from using it when mastering? Also, are there are good software w...

Lol! Gosh Earle what did you do?
I sent you a track a little while back (Leave Me Alone) and you mastered a 45 second clip. I listened to it and was like, WOW, what did he do?
I can't make that track sound that good for the life of me, lol. How did you do that? I wonder if you ever used har-bal. lol.

Is there a way I can keep mastering from affecting my mix?
I don't know if I'm mastering wrong or not, but everytime I finish mixing a track and normalize it and take it to har-bal, I'll usually low shelve it at 45 hz, and hit Intuit Q. But for some reason when I get to compression and limiting I can make it sound good but the vocals are always different in...

One random question, though... Sometimes when I'm limiting and fattening a track after I've balanced it in Har-bal and what not (I personally like to use Waves L2 as my main limiter rather than Har-bal's), I can get it up to a level that I like and I don't really ever hear any distortion through my ...

IntuitQ Helps BIGTIME, man!
Yeah, remember back when I posted that I was having all these problems with Har-bal and such because I couldn't really use it very well to master one of my tracks? It turns out the track wasn't balanced. Man, I'll tell ya as soon as I put that Intuit Q on there and took it to my limiter and eq devic...

Craig, You'll probably find that those CD's you are referring to have used compression as well as limiting to get that loudness. compression over the full dynamic range with a ratio of 1.2 or 1.3 would probably raise the average levels by as much as 3 dB or so. Be that as it may, I really don't und...

How come Match Volume isn't always accurate for me?
Hi everybody! I'm having some trouble with mastering one of my rap songs. You see, when I eq it and it sounds nice and everything (at least to me). I'll match the volume with a song off of a new CD. I'll play them both back to back and the CD is still MUCH louder than my stuff. Even after I used Int...
