Hiya , Well ... the two traces do bear a relationship with each other , and , by generally raising the average trace , the distance between them will lessen .... but only slightly ... and if your original file was full-scale , you'd be indulging in limiting to not have it too hot for the next stage ...

Well .. the reason to use multi-band would be about selectivity of affected frequency range(s) .... so .. it's the exact tool for the job .... With many multibands you have choice of compression/expansion over each band ... so you may wish to apply compression elsewhere ...

One approach would be to mute everything that's dead-centre , and , if doing the RH side , also mute any LHS channels ... Switch off your LH speaker , and play with your right-panned instruments ...
You'd then repeat the process ( conversely ) for the LH side ...

Hi Adam , Regards the length of predelay .... if it is under ~ 40 ms , it won't be perceived as a separate delay ( Hass precedence effect ) .. so I wouldn't worry too much ... As to the time of it ... the important thing is that it is a multiple of BPM ... often 1/4 , 1/8 , 1/16 beats etc . Regards ...
