Re: New Har-Bal User: Can't Get Good RMS Levels!

Thank you very much for the helpful and informative replies. I did want you to know that I'm definitely not trying to get my track above -14 dB. I've been trying to get my music as "loud" as possible to compare it with some favorite trance dance songs of mine (from Heatbeat and Matt Zo) th...

Re: New Har-Bal User: Can't Get Good RMS Levels!

I think I'm having the same issue. When using dynamic compression on my current song in Har-bal 3.0, if there are multiple kicks within a span of few seconds (doublets, triplets, etc.), their punch becomes squashed. I've been able to negate this by only using the Limiter, but I'd still like to use t...

Re: Let's Talk

Hello!

Yes, I have version 2.3.3. Is there an upgrade option or upgrade purchase option somewhere on the site?

Cheers,
Jrel

Re: Mastering Tutorial Question

I have a question on the tutorial. On page 14 of 18, it states "Usually, I leave the last three bands alone unless the highs are so uncontrollable my eyes start bleeding." What does this mean in terms of the orange dynamics line? Does this mean the line shouldn't bounce around all over the...

Re: Question on Subwoofer Freq Setting and Usage

I figured out my issue; pretty silly actually. I accidentally turned on my subwoofer w/o the monitors on a song and then put it into the proper phase. I turned down the volume to +0db, and then turned on the monitors. The monitors were really loud again...so I looked on the back of them and noticed ...

Re: Question on Subwoofer Freq Setting and Usage

Thank you for the reply. I'll try everything later after work. Actually, the bass-line against the kick issue is that when I have the subwoofer turned down to 50-60Hz, I can feel the bass-line playing correctly... but it is delayed enough to where it is not in time. But when I turn the subwoofer fre...

Question on Subwoofer Freq Setting and Usage

Well, I have an awesome M-Audio Bx10s Subwoofer to go along with my BX8a's. I am finally able to hear the low-end quite clearly on music. I was trying to find a good frequency to set the subwoofer at so that I could feel the low thump and punch of bass and kicks. I found the perfect setting was at 1...

I was thinking about getting an Aphex 204 or BBE 882. I already have the BBE Sonic Maximizer plugin (DX) that I use in Sonar. Should I get either of the above hardware to enhance some tracks or master a mix; or should I wait until BBE creates the D82 Sonic Maximizer http://www.bbesound.com/products/...

Re: more than one reference file

dont know if this has been asked before but I would like the ability to import multiple reference files, it shouldnt be too hard to implement (though I could see the screen could get a bit crowded) why? I use har-bal as a mixing (& learning aid) as much as a mastering tool, if I have frequency ...

I'm rather surprised that it is having a significant effect on your bottom end particularly if you have mono bass. Air only adds the mid component (left - right) back in so if it is mono bass it shoulbe be adding precisely nothing at the bottom end. However, in future revisions I'll look into apply...

Air Filter Suggestion

I've noticed that when I add in Air from 5% to 8%, my songs sound fantastic. However, I've also noticed that the low end gets slightly fuller (bigger) in the process; specifically in my songs, the freqs of 100 Hz and below are affected. Unfortunately, this is a bad thing for on my dance songs becaus...

I agree, this is one of the things I wish Har-Bal could do. I wish I could click and set the width of the filter, click again to keep the width, then use arrow keys to move it up and down.

Same here. I recently finished a great song. I popped it into Har-Bal to check the spectrum and realized I didn't have to do any tweaking for the curve looked great and the mix already sounded great. Over time, Har-Bal has helped train me to mix better.
