I think in the cases where bad clipping has happened there has been some activity on the saturation meter. How is this meter calibrated? Does just one green square = an unacceptable overload? or does it have to go into the 'red' before clipping is happening. My main question is quite simply this : E...

Earl, I can see the workarounds but am looking for a reason why the clipping does not happen during audition but manifests in the output file.

I'm just curious as to the difference between the two?

I see...

I was just interested in the technical difference between listening to the file in HarBal and the exported file - non of the clipping is aparent in the audio during preview where (I assume) the filters are working - just in the exported file.

Overcooked ?

Hi there - just been harbalising some of my old tunes .. I have found that when I make adjustments in HarBal that sound fine the output file is clipped and produces nasty clicks in some cases - I was wondering why it should sound fine within HarBal and not good in the output file .. I have not touch...

Sure, I understand that there is no spectral matching per-se .. But if I were to load a commercial track, grab the whole spectrum and drag it down (or up) a tiny bit .. then save those changes I assume you can then apply that filter to any other track? Not really suggesting it's a good idea - just a...

So, I just loaded in a commercial track and saved out a filter based on it's spectrum.

Is it then possible to load in one of my own tracks and then load the commercial filter and have that imposed upon my track?

I tried this and it does not seem to work.

Earle, thanks for this - Actually the source file was recorded too hot so I remedied this by : 1) turning down the gain on HarBal output 2) Importing the file into Nuendo and lowering the level once more 3) Feeding the track into TRacks and telling the limiter to makeup 6db It felt a bit like shoe-h...

I'm having a little newbie style trouble here... I have sorted out my track in Har-Bal and I *love* the result! - The track sounds great in HarBal but when I export it to a WAV file and load it into Wavelab there are really big peaks with clipping .. so it's obviously overcooked in Har-Bal. I wonder...

Hi there - my first posting here so HELLO folks 8) Earle, I'm going to try your TRacks idea out on a track .. just so I've got this straight would you be kind enough to tell me if this is the right way to go : 1) Take the rough mix (no mastering compression/limit etc) and give it to HarBal for a goo...
