Has anyone ever tried using the delay feature sliding bar under the stereo widening bars in Izotope Ozone. I never touch these, but I noticed a major increase of stereo width when doing so. Thing is, it usually messes up the mono compatibility. Sol Hi Sol, yeh those stereo widening tools in ozone a...

The actual sounds you use in the first place determine how they will fit into the mix. You can sometimes try all the compression and eq in the world to get your kick to fit better in the mix and seem punchier and phatter, but it just might not have the right set of frequencies in the sound itself, ...

Silly question...
ok this is probably a silly question Earle, but here goes anyway. When sculpting a mix to a reference using say, the "average" view i notice that although it may match in that view when i change to peak view it doesnt match. Am i seriously overlooking something here? probably! if so whats ...

Best Purchase in a Longggg time!
Just thought I'd let you guys know that each time i use your superb program I learn more about it each time, and my workflow has improved a heck of alot!!! The IntuitQ "Peak" function is simply fantastic, after sculpting from a ref then compressing (if needed) then re-importing back to Har...

Hi Ged, I'd suggest trying to roll off / shelve the bottom end. Move the knee point of the low frequency end up to a higher and higher frequency until the muddiness dissapears. Regards, Paavo. I would have to second that advice :) Earle AAAhhh, it's completed... finally got the best ref i could get...

regarding intuitQ
before i go on please understand that i'm very very happy with Har Bal, and when i've used it on decent mixes it's worked a treat. However, i've been running some age old mixes through V2 and came across a bass heavy track.Sculpted the low end to a ref song that was similar, then hit the intuitQ but...

Also, i've noticed on a lot of rock tracks(commercial releases) theres usually always a fair narrow dip around 90hz, 150hz, i wonder why this is? is it the mastering engineer eq ing out certain resonances that would not translate well on a home system??? I've had to do this occasionally on customers...

Bad mixes aargh!!!
Hi Earle, been working on what i would call an "ununiform" mix recently, i sent you a email a while back with a yousendit link, dont think you got it though. it's like theres been compression on the snare, vox guitars etc, but the bass gtr and kick seem to have way too much dynamic range. t...

Hi Ged, A reference is just a reference and no more than that. If all you've been doing is loading a reference and then saving the filter, the filter you save will just be all pass flat frequency response (unless you've made edits to the filter). No changes to the mix occur by loading a reference. ...

Filter file not loading???
Hi Earle & Paavo, i'm doing a quick test on a mix right now and I'm having trouble with the filter file function. I load my reference into harbal... I save it as an eq filter file, i then load my mix, and open the ref filter file. then...nothing happens, it says at the top right hand corner the ...

New multiband comps???
Just a note to say that although i think waves linear multiband does a fantastic job, it would be great if we had some "alternatives".I mean perhaps some more "coloured" sounding units, 9 times out of ten i never want to colour the mix and find waves LMB superb for transparent wo...

Please ignore my last post -- that's bad advice, now having bounced to disc a few times, C4 doesnt seem so great. My best luck with bass so far (recorded direct input) has been an equalizer (detailed below), then PSP Vintage Warmer (Bass track preset with ~+4 drive), then Amp Farm (fender bassman, ...

Hi Earle, I was wondering I'm soon gonna be mastering an engineer mates album, their stuff is quite " Out there" they are mainly acoustic and vox but use a few samples of spoken word here and there. Problem is, I've already done a quick version to "test the water" so to speak and...
