Re: Frequently asked questions

Jekyll, I seriously doubt your machine does not have a network card. For more than a decade all PC's have been sold with integrated ethernet cards on the mother board and this applies to laptops as well. Having a network card and enabling it does not mean being connected to the internet. For instanc...

Re: Dynamics Processing

The introduction in the product manual explains the histogram and control nodes in the context of traditional compression. There's no multiband compression in Har-Bal. I actually think multiband is a bad idea and have no desire of ever treading down that path. The peak taming feature I have planned ...

Re: Har-Bal 3.0 for Mac - What is "Har-Bal Player?"

It's a freely distributable player for demonstrating Har-Bal. You don't need to download it. See here for an example set:

Re: Cannot get full start up of Harbal 3 on Laptop

Probably a couple of weeks. I've got a new 64 bit machine to test with but my code base needs some tweeking. It's right for OS X 64 bit builds but I've got some compilation issues to resolve on WIN32 64 bit cos they use a different set of sizes for intrinic C / C++ types.

cheers,

Re: Cannot get full start up of Harbal 3 on Laptop

Can you direct your tech support queries to the support email address to obtain prompt service. It might also help in stopping a lot of pollution in the forum. For common faults we can post a solution to inform others. I'm guessing the problem is that your 64 bit drivers don't support 32 bit, but th...

Re: 3.0 Upgrade install issues & not working

John, go to the download area and download and install the latest version. Make sure you fully un-install the previous one first. Also, if you want prompt service why not email support. We don't live on the forum so you may not get a response for days. The forum is primarily for discussing usage iss...

Re: Har-Bal 3.0 Mac First Impressions

Sorry, my recollection was wrong. It was in fact, someone going by the name of doughboy on the VS-planet forum. Maybe he hasn't changed his mind.

Re: Highlight region in the timeline Har Bal 3

Hello Jan,

No it's not only you. It's a typo in the manual. You need to have the SHIFT key pressed while dragging (commonly used selection metaphor in graphic editors). I guess I had to make at least one mistake.

Re: Har-Bal 3.0 Mac First Impressions

Thanks for the compliment Loopy C. We did spend substantial time on it to make sure it was solid so it is good to here that it is. Similarly, I spent quite a lot of time on the documentation to highlight, in an understandable way, the key things you should know about using this version of Har-Bal. T...

Re: Can't Find Support Files

There have never been any wav files bundled with Har-Bal. The .ref files in version 2.3 don't exist in version 3 irrespective of the platform. Reference matching is not something we want to encourage because it encourages the wrong approach to EQ'ing tracks. See the tutorial for the recommended appr...

Re: Harbal and XP SP3

This happens because Windows XP SP3 is a very old version of windows that does not support the security measures (UAC user access control) that are in place in Windows Vista and 7. The solution is as you suggested.

What support files are you referring to? The help files are in the application bundle. You can access them from the help menu.

Re: Let's Talk

Thanks Jan, I'll be taking it easy for at least 6 months to recuperate from the version 3 onslaught. After that point I'll ease back into it and start looking at the next round of stuff that was left out but planned for. To all, the upgrade notices have now been sent out. If you don't receive an upg...

Re: Let's Talk

Thanks for that! Setting up the e-commerce for this has been a bit of a challenge but I'm starting to get it all sorted. Hopefully everything should be sorted and the upgrade notices sent out. At least now the emails to support shouldn't bounce! Have fun with the new version! I hope the new document...
