What Nitro says work as well and is easier to comprehend.

You just add a tiny little bit of the compressed signal into the original.

Parallel compression

If you have a track or bus called "SOURCE" that has an output to a bus called "MASTER", set a send bus "SEND" from SOURCE and compress it to the smithereens. Set the output from the SEND to MASTER and mix it into SOURCE to your taste. I scoop some lows out of the SEND. ...
