Sync'ing Har-Bal to external source

I've a couple times this week wished I could sync Har-Bal (running on my PC) to my Pro Tools rig (running on my Mac).

Is this possible?

I like to do a similar thing when I run Melodyne on my PC and send the 'fixed' vocals back into PT. This way I can use my PC as a 'Windoze' plug-in host.

How you treat things with Har-Bal also depends on your recording/mixing environment. Are you EQ'ing BEFORE recording? Perhaps your room is 'making' you add more in the 110-250 Hz. range. And then when you analyze with Har-Bal you see that you've added too much. If you are getting this bump in 110-25...

Hitmaker, The series of frequencies, in your example, starting at 150 Hz. (as you claim is the fundamental) creates a square wave. There would NOT be any 75 Hz. 'undertone' created by any of these frequencies (i.e., differential tone). Now, if you were to START at 75 Hz., as the fundamental frequenc...

I went out and bought a PC - they're so inexpensive. Glad I did as I have since added to Har-Bal; GigaStudio 3, Cubase, Drumagog, RealGuitar, DrumTools, BFD, Melodyne and more. I run PT and Logic Audio on my Macs. It's worth having BOTH platforms as they work together seemlessly - and very important...

Earle, I finally got around to trying this plug-in today. Seems to work very well. I set the frequency at 250 Hz, with the '6 dB' button selected. I then set the next two dials: first one full counter-clockwise and the second full clockwise. Processed the track, then to Har-Bal with a dash of 'Air'....

You're still working on a very limited computer. I'd suggest finding a refurbished G4 (unless you can get a new G5), max RAM, as fast of a processor as you can get. Move onto Logic Pro (way better MIDI sequencing than Pro Tools and it comes with EXS24). Get a dedicated HD for just the applications a...

You need to get a new BIGGER/FASTER computer. Sorry! You are now 3 generations back - G3, G4, G5, Intel. And, a laptop HD is NOT fast enough - the latency will drive you crazy - and you'll run out of disk space in no time. I've become very proficient at minimizing HD usage - I use, at minimum of, ap...

Do you play in a loud band You are a guitar player)? Do you use headphones a lot at high volume. You may have hearing damage and need to 'boost' these frequencies so that, to you, it sounds well-balanced. And then when Har-Bal makes the correction the results sound bad to you. You may also have spea...

If you are referring to 'karaoke' tracks, a lot of these are already 'mastered'. I think you might be better off just mixing in your vocals without applying HB. If the tracks have already been 'mastered' you won't really be adding anything. It's a tough mixing job, it always sounds like a vocal plus...

I'll cast a vote for yousendit.com.

You simply go to the site, upload your file and send it to a designated recipient.

I usually send it to my personal e-mail and then send the yousendit link to whomever.

Don't worry. Pro Tools needs to convert this 'stereo .aif' file to TWO mono Sound Designer (.sds) files. No audio quality is lost - as long as your session is set to 24-bit. If the 'session' is in a different bit-rate and/or sample-rate, PT WILL convert for you, so the new file is compatible with th...

Probably, they'd send it back to be remixed. :D

For me, that is the best use of Har-Bal.
