EQing the Side channel

Post by Bracelet Z »

Hello!

What could be the best suggestions for EQing the Side channel?

Should we leave the low content here or should we just cut it not to mess up the lows?

Is it better to lower th Side channels volume for radios?

Thank you!

Sincerely,

With my limited experience with Mid-Side EQ'ing I'd suggest that the processing you apply to the side channel be minimal. In my experience, what works best to to control narrow peaks that may dominate the side channel and leave the rest alone. If you start making wholesale wideband changes in the side channel you can end up with wierd things happening to the imaging. In one case I recall, a vocal part that was stationary in the original mix started moving around (dynamically) after inappropriate M-S processing.

Regards,

Paavo.

Thank you, Paavo.

I'll try to be careful with Mid-Side EQ'ing :)
