Thank you very much for your input.

I am basically looking at information from anyone who has used and liked or disliked the hardware that I have bought.

That could be a hard one my friend. One thing I have learned over the years is that all tools don't work for everything. When I am presented with a song to master I listen to it numerous times before I touch anything. I then think about what this song could use to enhance it even more (not change it).
It is only then I reach into my bag of tricks and grab the appropiate tool. I think the important thing here is to have a complete understanding of your tools and their strengths. Years ago I used to always ask for other folks opinions before making a major purchase. I have since stopped that because everybody has their own tastes.

When you are making major purchases assumably you are conducting research and checking specs and making sure that the equipment meets your needs. Even if the folks in our forum state that your equipment is the best in the world what difference will it make if you don't know the equipment inside and out. It actually took me a little over a year to totally understand the Avalon 747SP before I realized its potential, yet there are still folks that say they don't like it. So I guess it boils down to what YOU like :)

I know a guy right now that can do things with an Alesis SR-16 drum machine that absolutely blows my mind. I mastered their album and had to let a few folks in the industry listen to it because the drums were off the hook.

It's more than just mastering an album. We have to learn to master the tools as well :)

Bob Katz is a great mastering engineer not because of the tools he uses, but because of his mastery of them.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers

I am estimating the time frame to be about 4 months. It will be extremely informative and straight to the point. Not a whole lot of technical mumbo jumbo. It will take the engineer from the beginning to the final master. There will also be plenty of diagrams and pictures making it easier to visualize the explanations.

The Book name "Mastering Audio Exposed!"

Below are a few examples from the Table of Contents.
Why Master
Creating a two-track file after mixdown
Peaks and Valleys will kill your song
Checking the spectral content with Har-Bal
What is a Phasescope
Correcting the Stereo Image
The Real Secret of Peak to Average Ratios
Dynamic Range and Loudness
Getting that Tape Sound (without a two track tape machine)
Compression (absolute best method)
Multiband Compression (When to use it)
Limiting (Just a touch will do)
The Perfect Fade
Using a Sound Level Meter

and more

Cheers
