Override keyboard shortcut

Hi,
I am having some issue creating new splits (ctrl + S) in harbal 3 on OSX. It appears some other application has grabbed this shortcut or something and even after resetting my shortcuts prefs file it still doesn't work. Other ctrl + commands work in harbal. Is there any way to override the shortcuts? Alternatively it would be great to have some alternative means of triggering commands, e.g. using a menu item.
