Deficiency Between 5-8 kHz in All My Mixes As Per HarBal

My mixes all have a dip in them right between 4.8 - 8 kHz. When I correct this in HarBal, the cymbals become much more clear sounding and the entire mix gets a certain sheen to it.
My question is what causes a deficiency such as this? I am using good microphones (AT4050, 4040, Rode NTK etc...). I use high quality preamps (Great River). I have a fairly decent AD/DA conversion setup which is capable of capturing stated frequencies (MOTU). But for some reason there is always that dip, and I'm not doing any sort of shelving or surgical EQ in those stated frequencies. In my mind it only leaves one culprit; the room where I am recording the drums. Can a room have that type of dramatic effect on a recording?
Thanks for your thoughts,
