Hi, first post here.
I just purchased Har Bal 1.51, having tried the demo with no problems.
However, I'm getting a Error box pop up when I stop a wav file playing.
(although it does not occur every time)
The message read -
"Access violated at 0x015821BB (tried to write to 0x231422E40), program terminated"
another time it read -
"Access violated at 0x01582168 (tried to read from 0xFFFFFFFF), program terminated"
Har Bal closes down and when I go back in I can't hear any files playing....there's no sound.
I have to reboot or change to (wave/windows?) drivers.
This problem occurs when I set the drivers option to ASIO.
I have an Emu 0404 soundcard.
The wav files were exported from Sonar4 (if that makes anydifference).
Any clues what this problem is?

Hi ignatius j reilly,
Thanks for the detailed explanation of the problem. It helps a great deal in figuring out what may be wrong.
It sounds very much like a memory overwrite error but as to why it is happening on your setup and not mine, I'm not sure. At least from your description I should be able to trace through the relevant code.
I have a couple of questions though. Do you hear anything during playback? Does this protection fault happen if you select different output channels?
Thanks in advance,
Paavo.
PS - check that your ASIO drivers are the most up to date available.

I am getting some noise (clicking/popping) when making EQ adjustments during playback.HarBal wrote:Hi ignatius j reilly,

Is this usual?
Sorry I'm verymuch new to PC recording - Can you explain exactly what you mean by different output channelsHarBal wrote:Hi ignatius j reilly,

The clicking and popping generally occurs if the ASIO buffer size is too small for Har-Bal to handle without dropping out. What is the ASIO buffer size set to for the driver your using? I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than 768 samples.
With the ASIO driver and multichannel cards you can select which channels to patch left and right to from Har-Bal. You do this in the drivers dialog in Har-Bal. I'm not familiar with the Emu 404 but I was wondering if it had more than 2 output channels to choose from and if you chose a different combination, whether it would behave in the same manner.
Thanks,
Paavo.
